Parliament Speaker Bureau are happy to announce a rare opportunity to buy tickets to see author, mountaineer and motivational speaker Joe Simpson’s stirring and emotional personal account of the story of Touching the Void.
Joe Simpson's story is a well known one; first a best-selling book, then an award winning film, Touching the Void is the account of Joe’s battle for survival in the chilling and treacherous landscape of Siula Grande in Peru. With a badly broken leg, a further accident when attempting to climb down forced his climbing partner to make the heart breaking decision to cut the rope binding Joe to him, believing that it was now impossible to save Joe's life. Joe was sent into freefall, tumbling over a hundred feet into a deep crevasse. Alone, freezing and in terrible pain Joe fought against all odds to save his own life and he found a way out.
Joe will be delivering his moving and inspirational presentation to an audience at the Royal Hall, Villa Marina in the Isle of Man on July the 7th 2011, with an optional dinner following.
